Redneck P.I. Twila Taunton

Twila Taunton,  sassy, politically incorrect, and oozing with confidence has one Pmajor weakness -- fear of commitment --  which causes her to vacillate between the O'Connor twins. It's all Jimmie-Ray's fault because he dumped her on her wedding day. In the first novel, she is living in Yankee territory. She helps hunky Harland O'Connor catch a monster.

Harland O'Connor

He is the hunk who finally manages to persuade Twila to allow herself to be with a man again after her childhood sweetheart, Jimmie-Ray stood her up on her wedding day.

"His eyes were mesmerizing. I had to avoid looking into them because once they locked with mine; I couldn’t tear my gaze away. They were deep, deep brown, with long lashes, and so warm,—the most bedroomy eyes I had ever had the good—or bad—fortune to stare into. It was like looking at a bed with a down comforter on a cold night."

Great Aunt Essie

She  adds her own special brand of humor to Twila's life. She drinks Jim-Beam neat, smokes weed (for medicinal purposes of course), and rides her old Harley whenever she gets the chance.

Gasser Cunha

Gasser Cunha is Twila's neighbor in her crappy apartment in Boston. A master hacker and infamous farter, he helps Twila bring a terrifying criminal to justice. He loves city life and when Twila invites him to join her team in Quisby, Alabama, he refuses. Then things change, and he is surprised to find out how much fun he has when visiting the small country town.

He turns out to be a great guitarist and helps some school kids to form a band, and writes a song called "Backwoods Boogie".
